Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: NFL Week 4 Lineup Advice

Welcome to Week 4 of our weekly fantasy football “start em sit em” lineup article to help you with critical decisions on a week-to-week basis in the world of fantasy football. The first three weeks have come and gone, and no matter how your team is doing there is still time to turn things around. All it takes are a few smart decisions in order to get your team back on top!

Each week, we will bring you a list of must starts, other starting plays and players we’re fading by each position. In addition, each week we will look back on the previous week to determine pick accuracy. The cutoff for hits/misses are as follows:

QB: 14 ½ points

RB & WR: 10 ½ points

TE: 8 ½ points

D/ST: 7 ½ points

All rankings are assuming ½ points per receptions and 4-point passing touchdowns. Good luck this year and make sure to follow us on Twitter in order to stay up-to-date through the season! Feel free to DM or @ us with any questions you have!

Fantasy Football Week 4 Start Em Sits Em: Quarterbacks

Must starts

  1. Josh Allen, Bills (at BAL)
  2. Jalen Hurts, Eagles (vs. JAC)
  3. Kyler Murray, Cardinals (at CAR)
  4. Justin Herbert, Chargers (at HOU)
  5. Lamar Jackson, Ravens (vs. BUF)
  6. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (at TB)

Strong Starts

Joe Burrow, Bengals (vs MIA) – After a shaky start, Burrow was able to put up a respectable Week 3, finishing as QB5. In a game against Miami that projects to be high-scoring, I’m more than comfortable starting Burrow everywhere.

Jared Goff, Lions (vs. SEA) – The Lions offense began the season scoring touchdowns in 11 straight quarters, and looks to be one of the better offenses in the league before Jameson Williams has even returned. In a home matchup against Seattle, I’m expecting Goff to put up big numbers.

Kirk Cousins, Vikings (at NO) – As long as Kirk isn’t playing in Primetime games, I’m more than comfortable starting him nearly every week. Against a Saints team that struggled against the lowly Panthers, roll our Kirk as a fringe QB1.

Jacoby Brissett, Browns (at ATL) – For a game manager with low expectations coming into the season, Brissett has been a pleasant surprise in terms of producing fantasy points. After back-to-back weeks of top of the QB2 tier, I expect another solid outing against a weaker Atlanta defense.

Sit ‘Em’s

Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers (vs. LAR)

Matt Ryan, Colts (vs. TEN)

Justin Fields, Bears (at NYG)

Carson Wentz, Commanders (at DAL)

Baker Mayfield, Panthers (vs. ARI)

Fantasy Football Week 4 Start Em Sits Em: Running Backs

Must starts

  1. Jonathan Taylor, Colts (vs. TEN)
  2. Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (vs. ARI)
  3. Austin Ekeler, Chargers (at HOU)
  4. Dalvin Cook, Vikings (at NO)*
  5. Saquon Barkley, Giants (vs. CHI)
  6. Derrick Henry, Titans (at IND)
  7. Joe Mixon, Bengals (vs. MIA)
  8. Aaron Jones, Packers (vs. NE)
  9. Nick Chubb, Browns (at ATL)
  10. Javonte Willilams, Broncos (at LV)
  11. D’Andre Swift, Lions (vs. SEA)*
  12. Najee Harris, Steelers (vs. NYJ)

Strong Starts

Dameon Pierce, Texans (at LAC) – Pierce has his breakout game last week, again being trusted with nearly all the Texans’ carries and producing fantasy points with the opportunity. After the Charger’s defensive performance last week against the Jaguars, I’m comfortable listing Pierce as a start once again.

Breece Hall, Jets (at PIT) – Hall has produced 3 weeks of consistent fantasy production, even while splitting the backfield with Michael Carter. The first RB drafter will continue to get chances to produce on a Jets offense loaded with weapons, that will also get Zach Wilson back this week.

James Robinson, Jaguars (at PHI) – Through the first 3 weeks, Robinson is the RB3 in fantasy football, even while ceding some of his role to Travis Etienne. He has been incredibly productive and explosive coming off the Achilles injury, and one more performance like the previous weeks puts him in must-start territory.

James Connor, Cardinals (at CAR) – Connor and the Cardinals have not started the season how they expected, and this upcoming game is a must-win against a weaker Panthers team. I expect the Cardinals to have little problems getting into the redzone, and Connor should be a beneficiary.

Khalil Herbert, Bears (at NYG) – With Montgomery leaving the game early last week, Herbert took over the lead back role and was the RB1 of Week 3. Even if Monty plays in a limited fashion, I would be comfortable starting Herbert as he will likely see 15+ touches and produce with those numbers. If there is no Monty, he is a must-start on an offense that wants to run this much.

Sit ‘Ems

Jeff Wilson Jr, 49ers (vs. LAR)

Josh Jacobs, Raiders (vs. DEN)

Darrell Henderson Jr, Rams (at SF)

Michael Carter, Jets (at PIT)

Damien Harris, NE (vs GB)

Chase Edmonds, Dolphins (at CIN)

Fantasy Football Week 4 Start Em Sit Em: Wide Receivers

Must Starts

  1. Cooper Kupp, Rams (at SF)
  2. Justin Jefferson, Vikings (at NO)
  3. Stefon Diggs, Bills (at BAL)
  4. Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals (vs. MIA)
  5. A.J. Brown, Eagles (vs. JAC)
  6. Davante Adams, Raiders (vs. DEN)
  7. Deebo Samuel, 49ers (vs. LAR)
  8. Mike Williams, Chargers (at HOU)
  9. Courtland Sutton, Broncos (at LV)
  10. Christian Kirk, Jags (at PHI)
  11. Tee Higgins, Bengals (vs. MIA)
  12. Tyreek Hill, Dolphins (at CIN)
  13. Jaylen Waddle, Dolphins (at CIN)
  14. Amon-Ra St Brown, Lions (vs. SEA)
  15. Marquise Brown, Cardinals (at CAR)
  16. Michael Pittman Jr., Colts (vs TEN)
  17. Keenan Allen, Chargers (at HOU)*

Strong Starts

Mike Evans, Buccaneers (vs. KC) – Coming off a 1-game suspension, Tom Brady needs all the help he can get with a banged up receiving corps. He should step right back into his productive role as the top pass catching option for the GOAT.

Amari Cooper, Browns (vs. PIT) – We were able to see vintage Cooper the last 2 weeks, as he exploded for 101 yards and a touchdown in both of the previous games. As long as his QB can get the ball to him, he’s going to continue to see a majority of targets not going to RBs. Another strong game puts Cooper into must-start position.

DK Metcalf, Seahawks (at DET) – While he came into the year with a lot of questions, Metcalf has been semi-productive and had a big game in Week 3, scoring his first touchdown of the year. Against a weaker Detroit defense, I have no hesitation starting DK in the expectation of him playing bully ball against a weak Detroit secondary.

Drake London, Falcons (vs. CLE) – London has been the focal point of this offense, getting 27 targets through the first 3 weeks. With Kyle Pitts not being as involved as most though, London has had a nice breakout campaign and is looking to continue the production at home against Cleveland. Don’t have any hesitation about starting London when needed.

Terry McLaurin, Commanders (at DAL) – McLaurin has quietly had a productive season, and each week it seems that Wentz is learning to lean on his most talented receiver more. I expect McLaurin to continue getting 8-9 targets per game and producing respectable numbers.

Garrett Wilson, Jets (vs. CIN) – Even with missing over a quarter due to an injury, Wilson was able to return and put up a respectable scoreline. He once against received double-digit targets from Joe Flacco, and with the separation he gets I expect that number to continue with Wilson starting Week 4.

Sit ‘ems:

Corey Davis, Jets (at PIT)

Chase Claypool, Steelers (vs. NYJ)

Darnell Mooney, Bears (at NYG)

Allen Robinson, Rams (at SF)

Robert Woods, Titans (at IND)

Russel Gage, Bucs (vs. KC)

Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers (vs. LAR)

Fantasy Football Week 4 Start Em Sit Em: Tight Ends

Must Starts

  1. Travis Kelce, Chiefs (at TB)
  2. Mark Andrews, Ravens (vs. BUF)
  3. Darren Waller, Raiders (vs. DEN)
  4. George Kittle, 49ers (vs. LAR)*
  5. T.J. Hockenson, Lions (vs. SEA)
  6. Dallas Goedert, Eagles (vs. JAC)
  7. Pat Freiermuth, Steelers (vs. NYJ)

Strong Starts:

Kyle Pitts, Falcons (vs. CLE) – Pitts has had a slow start to the season, but in Week 3 the Atlanta coaching staff made sure to get Pitts involved, and he was incredibly productive. The best chance for the Falcons to win is by involving both Pitts and Drake London. I expect the Falcons to continue utilizing both in Week 3.

Tyler Conklin, JEts (at PIT) – Through the first three weeks, Conklin has averaged 8 targets per game, and has been efficient with his touches by producing respectable TE numbers on a weekly basis, even with only one touchdown. He should continue to be heavily involved and I have no hesitation rolling him out into starting lineups.

Tyler Higbee, Rams (at ARI) – Another productive week for Higbee, albeit with less targets than the previous two. Even with less targets, he still managed to produce respectable starting TE numbers and can continue to be trusted until Allen Robinson gets more situated in the offense.

Sit ‘Ems:

Mike Gesicki, Dolphins (at CIN)

Dawson Knox, BUF (at BAL)

Austin Hooper, Titans (at IND)

Cole Kmet, Bears (at NYG)

Evan Engram, JAC (at PHI)
