Best Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 3 (2022 Fantasy Football)

While the first week of the waiver wire is the most important of the year, a lot of great players remain on the wire and spill over into the coming weeks. Adding the right players could pay dividends and win your league, while missing on players could cost you a playoff appearance or championship. We’ve compiled a list of over 20 players to add from the waiver wire in your redraft leagues.

Not all these players may be available, but the general guideline I followed was under 60% rostered within normal Sleeper leagues. This should give you more than enough viable options to add to your squad and hopefully contribute in weeks to come.

Tua Tagovailoa – QB, Miami Dolphins (68% rostered)

If the Week 1 performance is the floor we’re going to get with Tua and Week 2 is the ceiling, I am more than happy starting Tua on a week-to-week basis. Having two explosive playmakers like Waddle and Hill who can go 50 yards downfield or take a screen to the house helps protect a QB’s fantasy value. If you lost Trey Lance in a lot of leagues like I did, run to the waiver wire to pick up his replacement.

Carson Wentz – QB, Washington Commanders (41% rostered)

While I’m still more skeptical about Carson’s weekly production in comparison to Tua, he has stung together two impressive weeks in the new Commanders offense. With Jahan Dotson developing into a solid WR2 and Curtis Samuel doing well in the slot, Wentz could have his best fantasy season with some of the best weapons of his career.

Darrel Williams – RB, Arizona Cardinals (10% rostered)

If James Connor is to miss any time, Darrel Williams in instantly in weekly flex consideration as the primary early-down back on a Cardinals offense that should be highly productive. After a great showing in Week 2, fantasy football managers (who own Connor especially) should grab Williams off the waiver wire.

Gerald Everette – TE, Los Angeles Chargers (61% rostered)

Somehow, the TE1 for Justin Herbert isn’t rostered in more than 50% of leagues. Even if you don’t need a TE, he would be an amazing backup and could even play in your flex spot in a pinch. After back-to-back strong weeks to start the season, Everette should be a priority for any TE needy team

Tyler Conklin – TE, New York Jets (8% rostered)

Here’s a fact you didn’t expect – Conklin has 16 targets through the first two weeks. He has been a safety blanket for Joe Flacco and seems to have secured the top Tight End position on a Jets offense that looks surprisingly effective in 2022.

Garrett Wilson – WR, New York Jets (61% rostered)

Leading the Jets wide receiver corps in targets back-to-back weeks, Wilson has quickly emerged as the WR1 for Joe Flacco (Elite). When a high pedigree rookie has a breakout performance like that, I always rush to the waiver wire when available.

Jahan Dotson – WR, Washington Commanders (65% rostered)

While Dotson is over 60% rostered, I had to add him to this list since he’s a rookie and had such standout performances in back to back weeks. As he is quickly becoming a favorite of QB Carson Wentz (especially in the red zone), watch for Dotson to be competing with London, Burks, and Wilson for the top rookie producer in 2022.

Jakobi Meyers – WR, New England Patriots (46% rostered)

Meyers has seen back-to-back weeks of high target shares from Mac Jones, and caught 9 of 13 targets for 95 yards in Week 2. It seems like Meyers will be the leading receiver in the Pat’s offense again and is available in more than half of leagues – grab him wherever you can.
